24 HOUR PET CARE
A message from our principal vet Dr Marcus Langer MA, Vet MB MRCVS:
For years we have been proud to be able to offer our clients an out of hours emergency service, and in partnership with Greenbay Vets this service was without break, all year round.
With recent changes in the ownership and management of the majority of Veterinary Practices in Torbay, we were the only Practices to provide our own service at our own surgeries. However, we are now, sadly, unable to maintain this service as a result of critical manpower shortages in the Veterinary Profession.
We have been able to secure an arrangement with MiNight Vets in Totnes, who provide a dedicated, professional afterhours service to the majority of Veterinary Practices in our area of South Devon. They will provide care and treatment for any emergencies or urgent problems between 7pm and 8am, every day of the year. They are unable to provide an ambulatory service and all patients must be taken to them if treatment is needed.
We will be available at our surgeries at all other times, as we are at present, and will be providing help and assistance at weekends during the daytime hours in collaboration with Greenbay Vets, as before.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause, but we cannot maintain a high standard of care to you, our clients, during the important daytime period AND be available at nights as well.
Rest assured, we are still at your service 7 days a week, including weekends and Bank Holidays and will endeavour to help minimise the impact of this change.
We urge you to contact us during working hours before your pet’s problem becomes an emergency.
Any hospitalised patients will be cared for on site overnight, as at present, by our dedicated nursing team.

We share our out of hours emergency and urgent care service with Greenbay Vets and MiNight Vets. The above number will automatically redirect you to a clinical team member from the vet practice on duty.
Our weekend and bank holiday service is shared with Greenbay Vets (34 Walnut Road, Torquay, TQ2 6HS) up to 7pm daily.
Our overnight (7pm – 8am) service is provided by MiNightVet South Devon. They are based at Dart Vale vets. (Station Road, Totnes, TQ9 5JR).
They will offer free telephone advice on whether your pet needs to be seen. If they advise that your pet should be seen, they will ask you to bring them to one of the surgeries listed above. If your pet does require treatment, payment will need to be made at the time of the consultation. Your pet’s appointment notes will be sent to us and we (Quarry House Vets) will continue any follow up treatment needed.
We strongly advise you to store these numbers in your mobile phone.
Any hospitalised patients that are already in our care following a procedure or that need overnight monitoring and supervision will remain in our care. A designated nurse will run checks as advised by the vet and will administer any medication, treatment and care needed. A vet will also be on call to in-patients when needed.
