The day is finally here! Today, October 30th, is official Big Pig Health Check day across the UK! 🩺✨
Because guinea pigs are prey animals, they are absolute experts at hiding when they feel poorly. That is why doing a regular “Piggy MOT” at home is so vital for catching health issues early.
It’s time to get your guinea pigs out and check the big four:
👀 Eyes & Nose: Should be clear, bright, and completely free from crustiness or discharge.
👂 Ears & Coat: Look closely for any bald patches, dandruff, scaling, or signs of mites.
🦷 Teeth: Ensure their front teeth aren’t overgrown, chipped, or meeting at an odd angle.
⚖️ Weight: Regular weighing on a kitchen scale is a good way to catch illnesses before they show symptoms!
