We want to share a quick but vital safety warning regarding the danger of grass seeds.
While we fully support the council’s initiative to leave roadside verges long for our wildlife 🐝🐞🦋, the cutting process creates a major hazard. Once mown, these sharp grass seeds are left loose, drastically increasing the risk of them embedding themselves into your dog’s paws.
We strongly urge all dog owners to check their pets thoroughly after every walk. Pay close attention to the spaces between their toes, as well as the gaps between the main footpad and the toe pads. Grass seeds are notoriously difficult to spot, but they cause extreme pain and distress for our dogs if left untreated.
